Welcome to SASM!

Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) are at increased risk to sustain major adverse events following surgery and general anesthesia including airway difficulties, myocardial ischemia and even death.  As Anesthesiologists and Sleep Medicine physicians began to collaborate to improve the  perioperative care of OSA patients, we recognized the fertile common ground existing between the disciplines of Anesthesia and Sleep medicine.  As a result, The Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine (SASM) was born.

We invite you to attend our Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine Annual Conference on October 11–12, 2012 in Washington DC.  Look over our site.
